Raise your hand if you’re an accommodations snob. You can’t see me but I’m raising my hand. Where you stay on holiday can affect your vacation because picking the wrong location can ruin your holiday in a heartbeat. With over 4 million Airbnbs worldwide, research is key to a good experience. I spend countless hours scrolling the internet looking at pictures and reading reviews until I find the perfect Airbnb.
My Thailand experience was no different. When I first saw this villa it was LOVE at first sight and I had to have it. All villas are not created equally, so make sure you do your homework before clicking book. Below are three non-negotiable amenities that I look for before booking.
Is the staff professionally trained and does the staff cater to your every need, from preparing meals to doing laundry to serving drinks by the pool? Asking important questions beforehand will say you a headache in the end. Some things to consider regarding the staff.
- What is the staff hours? Is the staff available after hours?
- Is there someone on call if maintenance issues arise after hours?
- Is the housekeeper the one preparing the meals are is there a chef that prepares the meals?
- Does housekeeping change the linens daily or is it upon request only?
- Does the staff speak English?
- Does the staff handle the laundry?
Are there enough bedrooms and bathrooms to accommodate your group? Many times the posting will say can sleep ten but in reality, it might only sleep eight. Some listing will count sofas and cots in the number that it sleeps. The same goes for bathrooms, some listing might count an outside shower or half bath as a bathroom. Also, when traveling internationally the bed sizing can be different from the US bed size.
It’s sad but in today’s world, we millennials can’t live without having access to the social world. You know when on vacation we have to post those perfectly curated travel photos. Yeah, the ones that took 100 attempts to get one just right. Hey, no judgment here! More importantly, with remote workers more common than ever, it’s very important to have a strong wifi signal at your Airbnb if you plan on working during your holiday.
Okay, I know I said three but let me throw in one more…
Pool – Who wants to be on vacation and not have access to a pool? Is it even a vacation if you don’t come back with pool tan lines. What’s even better is having a pool with a private cabana. The common free-form swimming pool of 33×8 meter in a “jungle” setting was absolutely stunning at this villa that we stayed in Phuket.
Amenities will reflect the location of the rental property, the type of property you offer, so many sure you read the list of amenities all rules carefully.
