If Google is any indication of how we feel, most of us women question our ability to wear a mini skirt.
When it comes to mini skirts, the majority of us are searching:
“Can I wear a mini skirt at 50?”
“What age should you stop wearing short dresses?”
Ladies, you absolutely CAN wear a mini skirt at 50 and why would we stop wearing short dresses if they look fabulous and make us feel the same?
Let me tell you about the mini skirt that changed my attitude on the topic!
It’s a shorter skirt than I would normally wear. But, it’s also super classy and when paired with the right pieces and attitude—it does everything a mini is made to do: shine the light on how unstoppable we are!
I often shy away from mini skirts because I don’t like the ways my knees look, but I give credit to my Stitch Fix Stylist (who sent me this skirt and picked this look) for helping me get over that as well as the exercise in my latest blog post about what makes women beautiful beyond appearance.
I am a wife, mother of 3, and woman living the message that “40 is the new 20!” I don’t want to send the wrong message to the world by showing everything (because let’s be honest, the world makes snap judgments and while that’s not my fault, I’m still conscious about my style choices as a professional) yet I also don’t want to look frumpy! I love looking stylish and I am of the belief that a mini skirt IS NOT trashy.
By pairing this mini skirt with a blazer, it creates a super polished look that feels sexy and sophisticated:
A Kaylyn Brushed knit skirt, this piece has everything I love: bold colors and big florals! My blazer is a Hannah Modal Scuba blazer and I love the way it fits and forms to my body. Both the skirt and blazer create shape and yet I can move freely in them. That’s perhaps what I love about this mini skirt—it flows in all the right ways and doesn’t cling to anything.
My blouse is the Kiera Keyhole Back Blouse and I love pairing polka dots on top with florals on the bottom. Does it get any more feminine and fierce than this?
The key to wearing a mini skirt at any age is confidence, but I do believe that when you’re 40 or over, you have to remind yourself of that!
You have as much right to wear a mini at 40 or 50 as you do at 20 and I dare say it speaks volumes about your self-love and confidence when you take risks in your wardrobe when you no longer fit in the “young-ins” category.
Confidence is the best thing we can EVER put on.
So, let your confidence run the show and slide into that mini skirt!
Tell me…what’s one thing you would wear if you allowed your confidence to take the lead more often?
