What Leah and I will be discussing today is a very important topic that all engaged couples need to pay attention to, and that is ‘Wedding Contracts’. I know what you are thinking: Lani, why do I need to know about this? This is paperwork after all; it’s boring stuff. As long as I find the right cake, bouquet, or wedding venue, I will just sign whatever the vendor hands me and that’s it. Well, I agree that legal paperwork is not the most fun part of planning weddings but having a good grasp of contract basics will ensure that you are fully aware of what you are getting yourself into before signing on the dotted line. In earlier episodes, I spoke about how problems may arise when planning your wedding. After all, you and your wedding planner are orchestrating so many different components to create the ‘perfect’ wedding. You want to make sure to mitigate all potential problems and that includes preventing any possible legal risks from the outset by becoming familiar with the contracting process. Also, remember that weddings are a huge financial investment on your part, and each contract you sign with a vendor is a business transaction. You want to make sure that you know the ins and outs of the deals you are getting yourself into so that you use your resources wisely.
In this episode, Leah and I will discuss everything from contract basics to how contracts have evolved during Covid, some key contract provisions that couples need to look out for in their vendor contracts, and so much more. We want to make sure that you get yourself covered legally and minimize facing any contractual risks when planning the most important day of your life. You definitely don’t need a law degree to follow our conversation; we will simplify all the legal information for you and make everything easy to understand.
